About The Arc – Mid-Columbia Respite Care Reimbursement Fund
Why a Respite Care Reimbursement Fund?
Respite care is one of our top priorities for service to our communities.
Many families who are members or friends of The Arc of the Mid-Columbia know first hand the benefits from enjoying a little break from care giving.
How Does the Fund Work?
Eligible families can receive up to $200 once per year to help pay for respite care. You can use the funding at one time or spend it with more than one respite request throughout the one-year approval period. We will deduct the amount of each respite request from the initial $200 funding. We’ve kept the application and use of the Fund as simple as possible for the family.
Who Should Apply?
Families who have an adult or child family member(s) with a developmental disability living with them. If the individual with DD is enrolled in the DD program through the Mid-Columbia Center for Living for Hood River, Sherman and Wasco Counties or through Community Counseling Services for Gilliam County and receiving services you can still apply.
How do I Apply?
Please download the Application for Respite Care Reimbursement. Mail the application to the address below. Applications will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis as long as our Fund lasts.
How Do I Get Reimbursed?
After you are approved for respite funding you will be notified. After respite care is given, complete the Reimbursement Request Form (download form from The Arc of Mid-Columbia website) or contact the volunteer Respite Care Fund Chairperson for a form. We ask that both you and your respite care provider sign the form. Mail your completed Reimbursement Request Form to the address below. We will then send you a check for the cost of the respite care up to $200 per individual with DD per year.
Please Remember: Our fund is meant to reimburse you, the family member, for the cost of care. We are not paying or employing your care provider. The Arc -Mid-Columbia has limited funds, relies on volunteers, & has no paid staff.
