The Arc of the Mid-Columbia Respite Care Reimbursement Fund
Why a Respite Care Reimbursement Fund?
Respite care is one of our top priorities for service to our communities.
Many families who are members or friends of The Arc of the Mid-Columbia know first hand the importance of having a little break from care giving.
How Does the Fund Work?
Eligible families can receive up to $200 once per year to help you pay for respite care. We want to keep the application and use of the Fund as simple as possible, both for The Arc and for the family.
Who Should Apply?
Families should apply who have an adult or child family member with a developmental disability living with them and who reside in Hood River, Wasco, Sherman or Gilliam Counties.
How do I Apply?
Contact the Arc. A short application will be mailed to you. Applications will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis as long as our Fund lasts.
How Do I Get Reimbursed?
After you are approved we will send you a Reimbursement Request Form to complete—listing the dates of the respite care you received and the total cost. We ask that you and your respite care provider sign the form. We will then send you a check for the cost of the respite care up to $200.
Please Remember: Our fund is meant to reimburse you, the family member, for the cost of care. We are not paying or employing your care provider. The Arc of the Mid-Columbia has limited funds, relies on volunteers and has no paid staff.
